Friday, 03/02/2018 | New pco.panda 4.2 bi

It is one year ago when we announced our new compact sCMOS camera system pco.panda. Now, exactly one year later, we’re proud to announce the newest member of our growing sCMOS camera family, the most versatile sCMOS portfolio on the market: pco.panda 4.2 bi.

New back illuminated sCMOS camera

Enabled by PCO’s new back illuminated sensor and based on the latest innovations in sCMOS technology, the pco.panda 4.2 bi reaches a quantum efficiency of up to 95 %. This makes the camera perfectly suited for low light conditions without the need for active cooling. The high resolution of 2048 x 2048 pixel with 6.5µm² pixel size allow greater detail diversity and highly qualitative images. The addition of the USB 3.1 interface provides direct power delivery via USB cable. PCO’s renowned sCMOS features and the camera’s compact dimensions of 65 x 65 x 65 mm make the pco.panda 4.2 bi ideal for countless applications, e. g. in the fields of microscopy and life science.

SPIE Photonics

Just like last year’s introduction of the pco.panda, the pco.panda 4.2 bi was also officially introduced at the SPIE Photonics West expo in San Francisco, USA (January 27 – February 1). SPIE Photonics West is the largest and most influential event in North America and the world's largest photonics technologies event and PCO’s attendance has become a longstanding tradition.

Murad Karmali, General Manager of Suzhou PCO Imaging Technology, on this year’s SPIE Photonics West:

Photonics West continues to be the premier conference for photonics related technologies and where you typically find new product and techniques related to this field.  It continues to be a growing conference with increasing exhibitors, attendees and talks. PCO has been attending Photonics West since it first debuted in San Jose, so for many years.  As we grew and introduced more products, our booth space has also grown, especially over the past 5 years. When we first introduced the pco.panda at the last Photonics West, there was tremendous interest as PCO again was pioneering a new sensor and design approach with pco.panda.  At this year’s Photonics West, we expanded the product line to include a new back illuminated version of the panda featuring a higher quantum efficiency but in a compact camera package making it an ideal camera for fluorescence or low-light applications and bio-medical instruments. We do plan on showing the pco.panda 4.2 bi at the Vision China show scheduled for March 2018 in Shanghai in addition to other conferences throughout the year.  Our Team can be contacted for further discussions related to this and our other products.

PCO Team

The entire PCO Team would like to thank all visitors of our booth at this year’s Photonics West expo for the exciting discussions about fascinating projects and applications. We hope that everybody had a safe trip back and we are looking forward to see you again in 2019.
